SEPA
SEPA monitors the water bodies of the Dee catchment to ensure that good ecological status is being maintained and also that those specific environmental standards which apply to protected areas within the catchment are complied with.
Where environmental impacts are identified, SEPA is responsible for identifying what needs to happen to bring about the necessary improvements and for planning how those improvements will be implemented, be it through existing regulatory powers or established funding programmes or by developing new initiatives together with partners within the catchment.
SEPA also provides advice, in both a scientific and regulatory capacity, and acts as a consultee regarding proposed new development.
