River temperature data collected on the Girnock since 1967 shows an increase in mean spring temperatures and that maximum winter temperatures are increasing.

A paper led by Iain Malcolm shows differences in river temperatures between areas in the Girnock shaded by trees versus open moorland

Iain, Simon and Chris Soulsby have a phd student in his final year and his study has collected river temperatures down the Tanar and Girnock and in the main stem of the Dee for the last 2 years.

some analysis which suggests a change in the characters of flows over the last 25 years.
